I don't mind if a breeder calls a yorkie *teacup* as long as they aren't raising the prices based on the size of the dogs.
My yorkie McKenzie was listed as a "teacup" and at a little over 4 lbs now I don't think she's too small -- I think she's a pretty standard sized yorkie.
The breeder was knowledgable, didn't guarantee her weight as an adult, and answered all my questions. She held the dogs until 11-12 weeks and seemed trustworthy.
I definitely get upset when I see 1.5 lb dogs being sold for 10,000 or 6 week old puppies being sold.
I got my yorkie/jrt mix Emma from a byb before I knew better and took her at 7 weeks. She was so small and while she's adjusted well, I wonder what harm that did her development being taken from her mother too soon. |
