In a shelter you would probably get a disease or something wrong with the dog and it would not actually be the dog you are looking for (most of the time) and if you like a certain morkie then you can CHOOSE to purchase him or her. Same as a shelter. I am not forcing anyone to buy Morkies I simply offer them yet they are searched by more people more often that the Yorkie itself (I know that by experience) why would a Morkie be searched more than a Yorkie? not only on my web site I know many friends whom are breeders as well some only Mixed other only Pure Breeds but we don't fight over this. Funny it seems that some of you think a mix is bad. I agree is CAN be bad if the breeder doesn't breed correctly. But for me it's perfect. THE PREFECT MIX for many people. Tell that to Heinz. My friends don't believe the amount of inquiries per day I receive most have Pure Bred puppies only and they don't have as much demand (they are actually seting some females in early retirement because of no demands) it looks to me like the Yorkie breed is losing it's popularity. Not because it's a bad breed but because the people who where looking for them now have them. And less are in demand especially with the new breeds who have different personalities which I guess people actually want more than the Yorkie. (More in demand!) and they are also much more cuter in looks! (Depending on taste). So if everythign is ok with the dog and it's healthy, you love the look better than a pure breed, the dog's personality is better than a pure breed. Answer this question why not buy it?
To me AKC OR CKC is simply a piece of paper telling me that I have paid 50$ for a certificate which can be and probably is faulsified by the breeder in question. Even with CKC or AKC how do you know that the dog your getting is acutally what the paper sais who tells you that someone along the lines wouldn't have been dishonest (or even an honest mistake) and bred the wrong male with the wrong female??
So AKC can be falsified as well.
Look at the Biewer Yorkshire a la Pom Pon they are Yorkies but with a gene mutation which makes some white (they actually look allot like the Morkie) their personality changes as well with this mutation and quite suprisingly there is ALREADY Liver Shunts and hip problems in the breed. it's not that old!!!. We are currently importing this breed from Germany (making sure all of them do not have Liver Shunt or any of these problems) and then breed so that here in Canada there will be a selection. Please note that it may be already too late. This Liver Shunt problem is not an on off switch. I hope someday you understand that.
