I had one lady tell me that her five month old yorkie ( no champion, just pet quality ) was $900 on the day I called her but would go up to $1200 the very next day because as they get older they become more expensive. This person also has teeny tiny teacup yorkies for sale $5000 and up. Is this normal pricing? No - there is no reason for the price going up - sounds like they were trying to pressure you into making an immediate purchase.
I have read that yorkies should never be bred if they are under 5lbs but lots of the people I spoke with told me they breed their 2 - 2.5lb yorkies. I read that to do that would seriously endager and probably kill them. Just found it odd that people were bragging about it. No - Yorkies that small should Neverbe bred.!!!!!
Is it normal for yorkies to be over 10 pounds and still be healthy?Yorkies can be over 10 lbs as our breed has breed down from the original size. And yes - they can certainly be healthy!
Also when looking to see how the pup will turn out should I pay more attention to mom or dad ( who gets more of the genes passed down)?Genes are passed on equally from mom and dad but puppies may look more like their grandparents or aunts and uncles.
Do you keep your yorkies shaved in the summer if you aren't showing?Mine are cut down as soon as they are finished unless I al planning to special them. And stay that way year round. Much easier to care for and they can just run and play like regular dogs!!
