IMO...the lady selling the 5 month old pup was just using a sales tactic to get you to buy her dog. In my area people usually start dropping the price of their pups if they are not sold by 3 or 4 months. The only ones that should go up in price as they get older are the show prospects. I would stay away from anyone selling teacups for $5,000, red flag. In my area you can get tiny Yorkies for about $1200.
There are many breeders that breed tiny Yorkies. IMO it is unethical, and it is dangerous for the mom. Those that do it, IMO, are either uneducated or they just don't care because they are doing it for the money. The tiny ones usually have lots of healthy problems.
Yorkies over 10 lbs are usually very healhy. People here on YT refer to them as 'teapot' Yorkies. You can do a search here on YT for 'teapot' and just see how many there are. Those that turn out over 7 lbs are generally less expensive but they make wonderful loving companions.
Some pups take after the mom and some after the dad and some have characteristics of both, just like in people. Both parents should be good representatives of the breed.
It takes about two years to grow a good show coat on a Yorkie and lots of works. The coat on a show Yorkie is not cut until they are through being shown. Many people keep their Yorkies in shorter coat if they are not show dogs.
Good luck in your search for a lifelong companion.
