I wish there was a site like this for Canada. The CYTR (Canadian Yorkshire Terrier Rescue) has only a few yorkies listed , they are all in Ontario except one, and there are so many restrictions for adopting it actually deters people from the rescue. I wish they would bass the adoptions on each personal situtation rather than a general one. I also wish there was something like this for Alberta. Mayber we don't have as many yorkies here?
I found 2 people at CYTR really good to speak with.
Hard to get phone #'s at times but, I did.
And they are honest. Not like MANY other so called groups I spoke to.
Some of the dogs were written up all foo-foo like. I had a flight and a long drive for other reasons. Then just heart broken to meet a vicious yorkie that was not like his picture and not at all like his silly notes saying he loved everyone, he just needed a chance and he was so sweet and gorgeous. He was opposite of what the foster home sd. I wanted to take him 'cause I felt "they" were bad for him and the home was not clean.
Guess, it was not my time and I am not rushing or looking.
Not sure if I want another yorkie or to help with them. Just don't like to see so many needing new homes and I know eveyone probably wants the young good lookin' one and the others just sit and have to wait. YTs are always in rescue. LOTS of Mills in Alberta [+ other areas] spitting out small dogs.
