I put Scrappy's collar on before we even left the breeder's house, but he couldn't even walk for stopping to try to scratch it off (hilarious to see though - he would be walking and trying to lift his back leg up and trip and do somersaults...).
Since it is the middle of winter and we've been having extremely low temperatures since I got him (a week ago), we have yet to go outside. He's using puppy pads... and the carpet, darnit. But I figured since he's not even going outside that I'd just not make him wear the collar.
What should I do to get him used to collar/harness/ any of it?

I have both of of my dogs (a yorkie and a doxie) wear their collar at all times. That way it becomes like a second skin to them and it won't bother them. Now the harness I use it only when we go for walks and when they see it they know what is coming and their harness isn't put on unless they sit. They now sit without me having to say the command it is so cute.
So basically I used the harness as a reward for them to go on their walks. And they know not to with out me putting the leash on it too. It takes time for them to get used to it but be consistant even if right now he is not going out for walks.
