declaws should be removed at 3-5 days old as they haven't formed the bone in them yet when they get older the toe has to be cut off and the bone broken to remove them then stitched up and brought back for removale of stitches of course they are under sedation but the older they are the more painful it is for them declaws can get caught and pulled torn on things sometimes but not always i haven't seen a dog with double declaws but cats often have them
