Yorkies come in all shades of blue and gold and buying one as a pet is really a personal preference of what color you prefer. However, for show the standard is a dark steel blue and a rich tan...so a darker colored dog. Yes, unspayed females will lighten up some as they age...as do all yorkies somewhat as they age. However, I doubt a correctly colored dog would lighten drastically (but someone correct me if I'm wrong).
