I recently took Cooper to the groomer for the first time. I asked them to cut the hair out of his eyes. They also suggested that I have his nails cut and a "sanitary" cut (around his bottom, etc.). I didn't have them cut his body short, although I plan to keep him in a puppy cut in the future.
