It's been so long that I've wanted a yorkie that I can't remember the first time I saw one or what initially made the breed stand out to me. I've grown up around dogs, but they've always been larger dogs. They're well bahaved, but do typical "dog things" like jump when they're excited. What I love about yorkies is their size. Olivia gets excited and jumps and isn't in my face and doesn't almost knock me down. I HATE dog hair. Don't get me wrong- I've loved every dog we've owned, but can't stand dog hair. It always bothered me growing up and even more so when I started to have to wear professional clothes for work. I like that I can sit on the couch or the floor in anything I want and not get up covered in hair. I love the yorkie coloring. Yorkies are also beautiful dogs- they're such a delicate, beautiful breed. When I began to research yorkies, I fell more and more in love with the breed after seeing so many beautiful puppies. Yorkie puppies look like little cuddly teddy bears! I like the "neediness" of the breed and the fact that they crave attention- I wanted a dog that would rather be around me than sitting in the other room alone. I like that they're a portable breed. I always hated to bring our dogs to the kennel when we went away. A dog that is under 10 lbs is much easier to take with you than the 70 lb. lab my mom has! Olivia is my first yorkie. Now that I have her, I love her fresh personality. If I say something to her, she talks back. (But she doesn't get out of line- she realizes the difference between being a bad dog and barking at me and playing with me.) I also love that she could probably spend all day, every day just giving kisses to everyone! (She is quite the frech kisser!) She only kisses me on the mouth, but to everyone else she goes right in for the up-the-nose brain-probe! She'll stand on your chest or face and go at it as long as you'll let her! I've never had a dog before that required so much grooming, but it's those few minutes when it's just me and her that I cherish- no cat, no daddy, no toys- just us. I can't say enough for her- she is truely everything I was looking for in a dog.
