My Oliver went to the vet yesterday and I was told he needed to lose 1-1.5 pounds. He is currently 12 pounds and I was feeding him a 3/4 cups a day... I'm lowering it to 2/3 cup... I'm hoping that will help out-
Try lowering his food intake slightly and see if that helps... with daily walks?
