I am soo sorry for your loss. My mother had our shih tzu Calvin creamated when he passed away. Now we keep his box of ashes by the window (it was his favorite place to hang out). If you can't bring yourself to do that then maybe you could bury him in your backyard, and you can visit him whenever you'd like.
