I have Artie, he is a year and 7 months old, he is a very finicky eater. But the only kibble he will eat is Royal Canin mini-28. I have heard all the arguments but it is the one kibble he will consistently eat. Abigail is almost 6 months old now, I did have her on the Royal Canin Puppy Formula, but she will only eat the Royal Canin mini-28 as well. I leave 2 bowls out, all day they each hold 1 cup of kibble. I will refill every morning, so that there is always 1 full cup.
I give both of them nutri-cal every morning, as well as malt-o-meal prepared with a little honey and skim milk. They may also eat chicken breast, salmon or steak. Depending on what I'm eating? Very small portions only! More like treat size. Artie weighs 8.5 lbs. and Abi is 7.5 lbs. both look very compact, very lean and more muscular, they are very healthy and alert without being hyper or high strung. Strong and sturdy. I run them every morning on the Beach or at our local Dog Park and every night they are walked so they get a lot of exercise.
