I wouldn't worry about the mess. Before Ellie was spayed the only mess was a few drops of blood on blankets and pillows. The bigger concern is allowing her to go into heat because it increases her chances of getting mammary cancer. I would ask your vet what they think but would lean toward waiting because her body is working to heal her leg right now and I'm not sure it would be healthy to have to try to heal the spay area at the same time.
