My 7 month old yorkie is going into heat. This will be the first time I have owned a dog when this happens and I would like to know of any suggestions to make it easier for my fiance' and I. Libby is of course an indoor dog. She is still not 100% potty trained for outdoors, so we still leave puppy pads in a couple rooms when we are not home. She definetly uses them because when we come home there is stuff on them. I went out this morning, and when I came home there was spots of blood on her pad. I've heard the yorkies go into heat at 6 months, and Libby is 7 months, so I was expecting it at any time. How long does it last? Is there anything I should know? She seems to be acting a lil different also. She usually loves other dogs, esp her yorkie friend Kobe two houses away, but lately she growls at him when they "play". Does it affect their moods? lol Last night I took her to play with a 4 month old toy poodle - female- and she even was growling at her. Usually she LOVES to play. I have a doggie diaper bc we had taken a trip where Libby had to come on the plane with us....so I had her wear the diaper on the plane. Should I put it on her to help with the bleeding? Or do they not really bleed that much? Any help or suggestions would be awesome!
