From what I have heard it is really only an issue with the cotton coats as the silk coats are much thinner so they don't get so hot.I have a male with silky hair and I have never cut his hair and it can get pretty hot in Michigan and he is fine.I say if you are wanting to let her hair grow out do so and just keep extra water around if that is a concern for you. good luck
