Wow! So many responses since last night. I really do appreciate all of your kind and encouraging words. =)
Parker - I got your PM and have PM'd you back!
Makemepretty - Yikes, I don't think I will ever get to the point where I have $2,000 to spend on a dog. Well...maybe but it would be so far down the road I get sad thinking that I would have to wait that long for a dog! I took this job working at home at a $700 a month pay cut. We're not stuggling, but that $700 could have gone to other things....like a dog LOL Anyway, you said you had a bad experience with a Michigan breeder...I have been talking to one outside of Jackson, would you mind PMing me and letting me know who it was? I sure hope it's not the lady I'm talking to!
Soccbydo - The pom is super cute. Has champion bloodlines and is on the smaller side. I'm still thinking about going to see the pup - I do like poms and I also believe a lot of the way the adult dog behaves is the way (if at all) it was trained. Luckily for me, I have a Dad/Boss who is a professional dog trainer. Not for poms, but a lot of the basic principles still apply.
Gingergirlsmom - Yup, I have checked out the YTCA's website. Also, on the shelter/rescue issue. Not once, but two times I have come across dogs on Petfinder that say that are living with fosters only to see them at the shelter in a cage when we go on the weekend!!! Argh! Drives me nuts. Also, I do see if they are trying to at least get back out of a dog what the put into it (fixing it, shots, etc.) BUT they can't say, "She came to us really healthy, her adoption fee is $600, $150 of which is refundable after you fix her". Because then they really haven't put any money into the dog (or very little) and that is when I get super irritated. I do live by 4 shelters though and try and visit them all at least once a month.
DaisyMae06 - Not offended at all! I was actually hoping I did not offend you! LOL
Bleu Boy Barber - I have already contacted that breeder and will definitely update!
celstu1 - Exactly. I know there are costs over and above the purchase price of the dog and want to be sure I can afford the proper medical care the dog needs as well as spoiling the crap out of it. LOL Hey, by the time I get the dog, it's going to have been over a year since I wanted one. It is going to be one spoiled lil pup! |
