I know what you mean. My guy is around the same weight as yours. Too much hair just seems to overwhelm his face and cover up his cute eyes. When I feel it's at the perfect length, I take a picture and then show that one to my groomer so she can see the lenght that I like. Below are some pictures of "the perfect length". When he had longer hair he just looked like a big puff ball!!
