Stinky Butt (Farts) usually means that something in his food is not agreeing with his body. And I agree that Royal Cain isn't the greatest. I would go with Canidae All Life Stages, but you have change slowly, over a weeks time.
You really should bring him to the Vet for a check up. And bring a stool sample (as fresh as possible)
