The reason you have them tested for heartworm is that if for any reason they did get this, it can be looked after asap. My dogs are also on this, my vet wants them checked every two years.. if a dog gets heartworm, if caught early it can be looked after.. if not then it could be too late.. it is not an expensive test.. but a preventative one.. pooh's mum
