I think most people use that term because it describes a very small Yorkie. I don't know why they can't just say what the parents weigh and what they think the pup will weigh when grown. That term is used in other breeds also, like teacup poodle and teacup chuhuahua. Personally, I think everyone is spending too much time worrying about the term. Most people use it just because they either don't know any better or don't care what other people think. Now what upsets me is not the term 'teacup' but the fact that people are breeding 3 lbs Yorkies. Now those breeders that are selling 'teacups' for thousands of dollars, they are Yorkie scalpers, just like there are ticket scalpers, people that are just out to make big bucks and take advantage of unknowing buyers. |
