I have a maltese, and she is super sweet!! She is definitely a lap dog, but when she wants your attention, she WILL get it.
She will jump up and lick your face to pieces until you pet her.
My mom has a maltese/shih tzu mix that we sort of rescued, and he is such a well behaved dog. He listens to his commands, never begs, and is just a sweetheart.
