Chewy was very fearful and would bite and snarl... a lot of it was the groomers. I stayed at pet smart and saw them holding him down. We were both tramatized and I decided to groom myself. it took a long time for him to trust me with scissors and combs, and tooth brush!!! I would do a little every single day. for nails I went to a groomer I found that I liked and we would both hold him and he wore a muzzle. The muzzle calmed him down believe it or not. He knew he couldn't bite and so he just allowed the nail clipping.
he is one and a half years old now and sits still and calm for me. He doesn't like it but he lets me do what ever I need to with no muzzle. the vet trims his nails.
