My daughter had to have three stitches in her face when she was about 2 years old from being bit in the face by a Pom that just walked up and sat at her feet until she reached down to touch it. Then it lunged.
I had a cockapoo who bit my grandson in the face when all he was doing was petting him and telling it how much he liked him. It had NEVER shown ANY kind of aggression previously.
All dogs can be aggressive and some breeds are more prone to it than others. You always have to watch dogs around each other no matter what breed and you especially have to watch them around children.
Of course you have to be even more vigilant when there is a big size difference. As great as I think my son's pitbull is, I would never leave my Yorkie's with her unattended. I wouldn't leave my grandchildren with her unattended either, even though my grandson learned to walk holding onto her tail. |
