I have read that a clue is that around 18-21 days postfertilization, many pregnant females will appear nauseous and even vomit. They do have a canine (Reprochek) test that can detect the presence of relaxin, a substance produced by the placenta of a pregnant dog.
21-25 postfertilization days is typical with the test. By about 35 days an ultrasound can be done.
There might be a mucus discharge from the vagina and enlarged, pinkish nipples.
Some females actually go through a false pregnancy too. All the signs are there but yet the female is not pregnant at all. ??
