The Yorkshire Terrier Club requires breeders to keep puppies until at least twelve weeks old. If this breeder is violating that rule, she is not a reputable breeder. She's probably not following the other rules, either, like health testing, breeding to the standard, etc.
Puppies learn very important lessons about socialization between 7-11 weeks. One of these lessons is bite inhibition. People who get their puppy too young usually have a difficult time correcting biting. The Fear Imprint Period also occurs during this time. Any traumatic, painful or frightening experiences will have a more lasting impact on your pup. A stressful car trip or an unpleasant trip to the vet at this time could forever make your dog apprehensive about veterinarians and frightened of cars. |
