Layla was at her babysitters yesterday, last night and today.. i went to pick her up and her sitter is just so nice but Layla had issues again this time.. she snapped at the other dogs and even snapped at Lee (but she thinks it was directed to a dog and she just got in the way) Her daughter is a dog behaviouralist and was there when this happened and the problem is Layla thinks she is the alpha dog.. so with the help of her daughter she told me a few things I can do to change this. I've made a list of things i can do but i'm open to more suggestions. I hate that Layla is behaving like this and really want to change it, so here's what i've got so far:
- she has to sit for food and treats
- we aren't going to walk on a flexi lead anymore
- she isn't allowed to be on my mom's desk at work
- she is going to be in her crate at supper time
- when she is scared we aren't going to baby her just let her deal with it and not encourage her shaking
so are there are key things i should also be doing?? tough love is going to be hard but I hate that she has become the "small dog" that i swore she never would be... so help
