I actually found it works best for me going perpendicular to the growth direction and then going with the direction of the hair but straight down off the edge and then actually back up from the underside to catch any little strays. I am always afraid of going against the growth near the edge, especially on pups because the flaps are so soft, I don't want them pinching or getting caught in the clipper.

Ya,know...it's easy to show this,but really hard to put into words that make sense....I hope I made SOME???
