I used the reward system for Maxwell and Zeus. We started on the weekend I got him (Maxwell) I watch him like a hawk - keep his pee pad in the same place, when he looked like he was going to go - I took him to the pad after he went (sometimes) I had to keep him in his pen (bought it at Petsmart $39.99 just like a play pen with out a bottom) I made a big deal of going on the pee pad told him what a good boy he was and gave him a small treat that my doctor said he could have and by the end of the weekend he had it down pretty darn well. Both of my dogs share a room in my home, however they each have there own play pen/pee pad/water/bed. The reward systems has worked wonderfully for me - even when I go to work they know my shoes are on and they get a treat if they go to there homes. I hope it helps.
