Play with the puppy. A puppy under foot while cooking can get a small burn by even food dropping. I still even If I am laying on the sofa play with Mya for at least 2 hours a day. Throwing the ball for her, playing hide the stuffed animal, laying on the floor and playing tag... you could also take the puppy outside. Holding it if it has not had shots.
