 Yorkie Obsessed with my wife . . .

My family recently acquired an 8 month old yorkie. His past owner was a female with the same name as my wife. I wanted the dog and surprised the family. He is a great dog and we love him. Potty trained and everything. The problem is he will NOT leave my wife alone. He has been with us for 6 weeks and he follows her everywhere. Sleeps on her back, always under her legs when she cooks etc. etc. etc. She is flattered but needs a little less love as she needs some space.
How can I get Teddy to spread the attention around and give my wife room to breathe?
