Could you or someone else talk to your grandfather. Tell him that he is a nice dog, but picks up on him not liking him. Maybe he could give him treats once a day- play ball with him. Maybe a friend of his is needed to bring it up!
They could be comfort to each other. Maybe tell Gramps, you need him to help watch your boy while at school!
Gramps has to want to try. If nothing else- a daycare- or someone to come in and walk him while you are gone!
