The "mix" you are talking about is called a Morkie and it's very popular. The mother is the Maltese and the father is the Yorkie. I've never heard of it the other way around, but I guess that would be a Yokiese or a Yalta? My grandaughter has a Maltese that usually has 4 or 5 puppies, but there's always one or two from the litter that doesn't make it. So she wants to try my smaller male Yorkie with her female Maltese, because she likes the breed combination and hopes that all the puppies will survive if they are smaller.
