I dont know

I'd have to disagree a little bit... I've heard so many times that dog owners (yorkies or not) think that their pup will do things out of spite. Dogs are very smart, so I dont doubt that they have the ability to reason. Last weekend, Meka was very upset that she couldnt go to the store with us and when we got back home... she had left a little "gift" for us, right next to the door... Mind you Meka does great with pad training. Infact, at 10 mo's she has full run of the house. She's able to go downstairs to the washroom to use her pad on her own.... We rarely have problems with accidents until she gets upset and wants attention (good or bad)... So, IMO they have more than enough sense.
Though I do think that with Miss Bella it was a little of both. I think she was upset that you yelled at her and the fact that she'd eaten your shoe... caused her to have the potty issue... Im sure she's over it
