Well, if you're lucky, your first time Mommy will let her instincts take over and she will do all the work for you. I just had my first litter of four born on Halloween. The Mommy cut the cord, opened the sacks, and had them all cleaned and nursing. All I really had to do was weigh them, and put their collars on them (so we could tell who was who for weight gain purposes).

I would recommend letting the mom eat only one placenta, as it has good nutrients in it for her, but if she eats more than one, she will most likely get diarrhea. I know how you're feeling. I was both so excited and so nervous at the same time. Good luck to you!!
