A toy breed should be at least 12 weeks before leaving the breeder..older if it is very tiny. In fact, the YTCA code of ethics states that yorkie breeders should not let puppies go before a minimum of 12 weeks. Before 12 weeks, hypoglycemia risks are greater. Also the puppies learn quite a bit of socialization & proper behavior from mom and siblings from 8-12 weeks, including bite inhibition. Puppies also don't start their vaccinations until 8 weeks (sometimes 6). They really need to have at least 2 vaccinations before leaving the breeder so they are partially protected to diseases.
