We babysat my MIL's Scottie a few years ago when she was recovering from knee replacement surgery. We had her for about a month and lost her 4 or 5 times When someone opened the door, ZOOOM, out she'd go! The more you called for her and chased her, the longer it took to catch her. We finally figured out that it was a GAME to her and to ignore her, she'd come back quicker Man, I was dreading telling my MIL that we had lost her Maggie, but we held on to her more strictly after those few incidents (one of which was at a park and she slipped her collar ) and though I loved her very much, was SO glad to see her go home I think she was smarter than all of us put together

My MIL had to move out of her house and into an apartment that didn't allow pets, so Maggie now lives with my BIL She's already bitten two of his kids, but from what I understand they were teasing her, and of course she misses her Momma

Scotties are great, but they are terriers to the Nth degree They take as much care as our Yorkies do, but in different ways. They need TONS of exercise and challenging games/tricks. I thought I wanted one until I saw a Yorkie, then it was all over
