I use warm washcloth and/or eye cleaner and cotton ball to moisten the area and then I use a flea comb and comb it through area and it gets all of the crusty's out...have to do it daily though or Bella gets some buildup...I have also made sure I take her regularly to have hair cut around eyes so that strays to do poke her in her eye and make tearing worse.
