like who? There are a lot of people that might consider their breeders reputable when in fact they are not. I'm not saying reputable breeders that health screen aren't ever going to a get a puppy with a health problem...sometimes it just happens, but the chances are much lower than if you went and bought a dog from someone who doesn't health screen. Dogs are not cheap...you can't expect to buy a well-bred dog for $100 (although I'm not saying you'll never find one). Breeding costs a lot of money - I've seen it broken down somewhere on here so far as costs and it was a LOT to breed a litter.

Purchasing from backyard breeders, pet shops, and puppymills perpetuates the suffering of other dogs.
Educate yourself and buy from reputable breeders or rescue.
