I would get it from the vet. They might prescripe Rimadyl (I don't like it at all) or Tramadol. Sometimes pain meds can't be given (with c-sections, liver disease...) but if it all possibly, it should be after a spay. It is a very invasive surgery. No doctor would be cutting open my abdomen without pain meds and it is wrong to ask an animal (who is in obvious pain) to go through that. Ellie was in extreme pain after her spay. She needed meds. You do have to watch that they stay calm though.
