I recommend getting them from your vet. Don't overdo it on pain meds though. Feeling a little pain is good for them as it keeps them from hurting themselves. You can't really tell a dog "you just had major surgery and need to be still and rest for a few days so you can heal"...if they feel a little pain, they'll know their limits. If they think they feel good, they may be too active and hurt themselves. Lacy thought she felt great a couple days later and was already running around..she ended up tearing her internal stitches. She had to be put under again and restitched up. So make sure you keep her still for a few days afterwards
