Hi! You'll probably get more responses if you post in the general forum vs the regional.

Is your puppy getting poop caught in his hair back there? Mine will rub their butts only if some has gotten caught back there. I keep their hair trimmed to prevent it.

If that doesn't seem to be the problem it may mean his anal glands need expressing. These are glands located on either side of his rectum and are usually expressed naturally when they go poop. Sometimes this doesn't happen. Your vet or groomer can do it for you....
