I love my vet...he has the good sense to know when he has lost a battle...and when pushed he will admit that about two weeks is devoted to canine nutrition in vet school and it is underwritten by the poor quality pet food mfgs like Purina and Science Diet...and you hit on the key, as long as it is balanced. He has acquiesced as he knows that I know...every once in a while he will touch on diet and he starts talking about it and I have to remind him my dogs don't eat that crap that he offers...everytime I see a new puppy parent walk out with the free ProPlan I cringe.
The ingredient list of the common dog foods is a nightmare nutritionally....and they wonder why there is a higher incidence of canine cancer...doesn't take a rocket scientist.
And she is right, at least we don't have to worry about the recalls! |
