The best way to "lick" this (pun intended) is to recruit the help of your friends and family. Basically, you either re-create a party or whilst your real party is on-going, everyone will be required to not allow puppy on laps and to ignore puppy until puppy calms down. When the puppy calms down, and can sit calmly or at least with some semblance of calm, let people pet her, but only while she is on the floor. In other words, they have to bend down to pet her or get down to her level to pet her, but she will not be allowed on their laps or parts of their bodies. And if she starts acting up, all parties have to agree to ignore her. Eventually she will get the hint, that she gets no attention unless she behaves and has manners. You may want to assign a name to it like "settle" or "manners". But you will need cooperation from everyone for it to work and be effective for future occurances. (that's why practice makes perfect) |
