I can't really answer this for you. You have to do what you're comfortable with. Vomiting and diarrhea can be symptoms of liver shunt they can also be symptoms of a zillion other things. If you thing he sleeps too much or is depressed, lethargic... then I would be vet concerned about LS. There is no way to know for sure until you test. What's the worst thing that can happen if the test comes back negative?...It will ease your mind. I guess it could be chronic pancreatitis. Did your vet do blood work?

Raw diet should not be given to liver compromised dogs.
