Keep soaking them with warm water until you see the vet. You want to make sure they do not seal shut during the night..you can put a dab of vasaline on the lid..sounds awful, but a sealed eye is dangerous.
You can also get Boric acid from the druggist and wash them out.
In England, they have an OTC ointment called Golden Eye..I am going to see if I can get a British member to send me some. They also have a great antiseptic called TCP..I used to use it to clean ears.
