Gus was like this too. He was trained to go in the pad. So the first time we went to an outing it was to my best friends house, I knew he might get confused when it came to going potty. So what I did was take pads with me where ever I went. He would not go unless there was a pad down. Now he goes outside and don't care for the pads, but will use them if he has to. Maybe you can try taking pads with you so he don't have to hold it till he gets used to going outside. Good for Maximus peeing on command. What a good boy!!!
