I was on two Yorkie rescues and regional coordinator for one. We did background checks and home checks before placing a dog. This is to try and find a home that we felt would be stable so the dog wouldn't be put back into rescue. Not having a fence or having small kids did not automatic eliminate them from being adoptive parents. The home check was a must, to see how the kids behave with a dog and how the parents interact with both the kids and the dog and so on.
I don't know how other rescues are run. I can only tell you how ours was run. |
