My Sassy does not like rice so I use oatmeal. The following has been approved by my vet and she likes it a lot. I had trouble with her eating too. Not now. She is very healthy.

I use all fresh veggies.

Start with 1 carrot, cut into rounds. I boil them in water until almost done. (Put in enough water that will accomodate the other veggies you will be adding). Add 1 potato, cut into rounds about on third inch thick. Now add some uncooked green beans (cut into smaller pieces)and cook until all of these are done. Remove everything from water, but do not pour water out. I use a slotted spoon.

Now add to water, yellow squash, green squash and brocolli, cooking until soft. Remove from water and now you can pour the water out.

I put all of this in a plastic container (separated into individual groups) and they keep well in fridge. I generally cook enough for about three feedings.

When she is ready to eat, I put a little one minute oatmeal into a small bowl with a little water and cook in microwave for 20 seconds. On a small plate I put two or three carrots, 4 or 5 green beans, one potato round, and one slice of each squash and one small brocolli floret. Sometimes, I use peas instead of green beans. I microwave it for 20 seconds. Using a fork, smash all the vegetables and add to the oatmeal. Add to this mixture either chicken, beef or lamb as cooked below:

In a small pan, I spray a small amount of olive oil. In this I cook chicken breasts or beef strips, alternating so she doesn't get bored. Sometimes I use lamb. Never pork.

It sounds like a lot of work, but it truuly isn't. Once you get the routine down, it's easy as can be. Just having it all there in the fridge makes it quick to put together. Whe it is time to feed her, I just put the veggies in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Then I put in the oatmeal. While it is cooking I smash the veggies. Mix it all together and then add some cubed meat. Voila!
