A lot of clients don't want to pay for bloodwork so a lot of vets do surgeries without it. The vet in the town I grew up in doesn't require bloodwork. Only a few clients even have it done. However, a lot of vets require bloodwork before any anasthesia. It's an extra precaution and I recommend having it done just in case. Most like she will be perfectly find being put under, but there is always a risk that there is something wrong that you don't know about..and the bloodwork could have pointed it out. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
